National Public Lands Day (Part 2!)

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday September 25

10:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

Established in 1994, National Public Lands Day is an annual celebration of our public outdoor spaces. Each year on the fourth weekend in September, thousands of volunteers gather to help restore and improve public lands around the country. During the COVID-19 pandemic, public lands have been a safe haven for many of us being one of the few places where we could recreate, meet together, and simply enjoy nature outside of our homes. This National Public Lands Day, let's give back to the lands that gave us a safe space in a time of uncertainty. On Sunday, September 25, help us at the Accokeek Foundation celebrate our wonderful public lands by stewarding the plants and waters here in Piscataway Park! As a thank you, the Accokeek Foundation, the National Park Service, and the National Environmental Education Foundation, want to gift volunteers with “fee-free coupons” in recognition of their invaluable service to our park. Each coupon will entitle the recipient and their family or vehicle companions to one free entry at any participating federal recreation or visitor site within one calendar year (9/24/2022 – 9/24/2023). Register below to volunteer or contact Risharda Harley at rharley@accokeek.org for questions or more information.

(Participating invasive removal volunteers should be able to navigate fairly even gravel trails. All ages are welcome, but youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the event.)

Registration is required for participation, and there will be volunteer forms to fill out upon arrival.
