Saturday April 22

11:00 AM  –  3:00 PM

Give back to the planet this Earth Day, April 22, through service and exploration.

On Saturday, April 22, from 11 am to 3 pm, the Accokeek Foundation is hosting an Earth Day open house. Take part in a volunteer project, and visit activity stations to learn more about Piscataway Park.

Choose your own adventure! Sign up for one or both volunteer projects, or just come to learn about the park and enjoy a day outdoors.

Volunteer:

Project 1: Spend the morning working in the gardens of Piscataway Park. Help clear the beds, remove invasives, and plant new natives and heirloom vegetables. Project begins at 10 am.

Project 2: Pitch in to clean up the shoreline of the Potomac River in Piscataway Park. Help remove trash deposited along the bank to improve the health of the river. Project begins at 12 pm.

Clean-up volunteers must be able to walk moderate distances and travel along the uneven terrain of the shoreline. All volunteers should dress for work and come prepared to get dirty.

All ages are welcome, but a parent/guardian must accompany youth for the duration of the event. This event is free, but we encourage you to register. Volunteers are required to fill out volunteer paperwork and waivers. For club and large group registration, please get in touch with kbeach@accokeek.org.

The Accokeek Foundation follows masking guidance from the National Park Service and local health agencies. Masks will be required indoors and for outdoor non-socially distanced activities if the COVID-19 community level for Prince George's County, as defined by the CDC, is HIGH at the time of the program.
