Have you ever wondered how colors can be acquired from natural sources? Ever been told to avoid touching a wild plant because it will stain your skin? Do you want to learn more about how natural dyes can be obtained from the landscape around you, and how to identify and collect these natural dye sources responsibly? Join experienced dyers on a walk to identify and collect natural dyeing materials and learn about historic natural dyes.

The materials gathered will be used to dye our Hog Island wool at the Natural Dyes Workshop on 10/22. If you would like to register for the workshop as well, please contact education@accokeek.org for a $5 off discount code.

Suitable for all ages. This one-hour walking tour takes place outdoors and over uneven terrain. The Accokeek Foundation follows masking guidance from the National Park Service and local health agencies. Masks will be required indoors and for outdoor non-socially distanced activities if local COVID-19 conditions are at a HIGH level at the time of the program.

There are two timeslots for this walk: 1-2pm & 2:30-3:30pm. Click "OTHER TIMES" below the date and time above to select the 2:30-3:30pm timeslot instead.

Proceeds from this farm tour support the Accokeek Foundation's education programs and land conservation work in Piscataway Park.
