Public Program: Natural Dyes Workshop

Selected date

Saturday October 22

Selected time

11:00 AM  –  11:45 AM

Come and learn more about the skills used to take dyestuff gathered from the park and the kitchen to make natural dyes. Join our Stitch 'n Time textile volunteers as they walk you through the steps and skills, enjoying the transformative beauty of natural dyes on natural fibers. All participants will have the opportunity to dye a small handspun skein of yarn and take it home. This registration will secure your timeslot for dyeing the skein but you are welcome to stay to watch the demonstration.

We recommend this activity for ages 8 and up. We will use the natural dyeing materials gathered during the Natural Dyes Harvest Walk on 9/24. If you would like to register for the walk as well, please contact education@accokeek.org for a $5 off discount code.

The Accokeek Foundation follows masking guidance from the National Park Service and local health agencies. Masks will be required indoors and for outdoor non-socially distanced activities if local COVID-19 conditions are at a HIGH level at the time of the program.

There are 4 timeslots for this workshop: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm. Click "OTHER TIMES" below the date and time above to select another timeslot.

Proceeds from this farm tour support the Accokeek Foundation's education programs and land conservation work in Piscataway Park.
